Even
though I've dedicated my entire life to music and understand how important
music is, it still amazes me when I see just how fundamental and essential
music is to our human existence. As most of you, I've been watching and
reading about the incredible tragedy in Haiti. It has been heartbreaking
and disturbing. Lying and dying in rubble, helpless and hopeless.
Most recently I saw this video clip (see below) of a man searching for his missing
wife for 6 days and the unbelievable miracle of finding her alive. She is
pulled from the destruction and one of the first things she does is SING - no
food or water in total darkness buried alive, facing death and what comes out
of her? MUSIC!
Another
story I read was of a mother who was trying to keep her daughter alive in a
collapsed building. They were stuck and trapped and her daughter wound up
dying on the fourth night. In their bleakest last days together the
mother sang and prayed.
Music
gives us hope, support, and joy. It can express what we can not say in
words and can affect and touch us like nothing else. It's an outlet for
true human emotion that brings us to a higher place when we need it most.
To me, music is as fundamental and important as it gets. My hope is
that everyone starts to experience and understand the value and power of music
and of course exposes it to our youngest.
Juno's Rhythm Adventure just received a great review from Life with 5 Monkies and 1 Ape! We were very excited and particularly happy to read the wonderful words about the music and how engaged the children were with it. To read the entire review, click "continue reading" below:
As many of you have probably heard, The Baby Einstein Company was recently agreed to offer a refund for their DVDs and videos after receiving claims about misleading educational claims. I was so excited to read the article in Divine Caroline which suggested Juno Baby as an alternative. Among other things, the author wrote "Juno Baby builds on research that shows that children have the capacity to hear a greater range of musical frequencies than adults do, as well as to appreciate more complex rhythmic patterns. Since children’s musical abilities are linked to earlier reading abilities and language development, Juno Baby’s focus on music is both fun and educational." A GREAT thank you to the bloggers over at Mom Start for the wonderful review they gave Juno Baby! We were particularly happy to see that they gave mention to our One for All Program. We're just getting started on our goal of giving away 1 million CDs and DVDs to children in under privileged communities. Below is a small portion of the nice words they had to for us. "My kids wanted to watch it again and my daughter asked me a lot of questions. She’s at the stage where everything is a question. My son, loves to bang on everything he can anyways so he of course loved it."
We were excited to see a great review this morning from Coolest Kid Reviews and Giveaways! Here's a brief cut and paste of the review. To read the full review, click "continue reading" below.
"This is the first movie that has kept Alejandro's attention throughout the whole film. I had never seen him dance, laugh and enjoy a movie so much! I loved watching it in Spanish with him, often when movies are translated into a different language they end up not rhyming as well but the Spanish was just as great as the English version. I liked how original the story was and the songs will have you singing along! I say forget Baby Einsteins!"
Yay! We were excited to learn that MyShoppingConnection has featured Juno's Rhythm Adventure as its Editor's Pick. Just as importantly, they gave a nice mention to our One for All program. We are inching our way toward our goal of giving away 1 million Juno Baby products to underserved communities. We'll keep everyone posted on our progress. Keep on the lookout!
